Ploughing Match
Each year in September the local beekeeper associations of Thanet, Dover, Whitstable and Canterbury get together at the East Kent Ploughing Match to sell honey and other hive products, alongside many other stallholders to do with farming and the countryside. The event takes place on a different farm each year.
As well as sales we also provide an observation hive, a photographic display of what goes on inside a hive and a beehive (no bees), for visitors to look at. We had many school groups, there for the day, come and visit our stand to find out about bees. Members of all four associations man the stand and are happy to talk bees to children and other members of the public.
Its a great day out for families and enjoyed by beekeepers who get the chance to chat to each other. A lot of preparation is needed which is led by Thanet Beekeepers.
